Construction Begins on Maloney Estates Subdivision

This week sitework began on Maloney Estates, a new 23-unit single-family home subdivision located just south of the intersection of Maloney Grove Ave SE and SE Mt. Teneriffe Place. Initial work on the approximate 4.5-acre project includes clearing and grading, utility installation and street frontage improvements.

Mayor Proclaims September National Recovery Month in North Bend

Mayor Rob McFarland proclaimed September National Recovery Month in North Bend, supporting the recognition of the importance of behavioral health as an essential part of overall health and wellness. Preventing, treating and overcoming mental and/or substance use disorders is critical to achieving healthy lifestyles - both physically and emotionally. The North Bend community is encouraged to support this year's theme: Recovery is for Everyone - Every Person, Every Family, Every Community.

King County to Resurface, Repair Section of North Bend Way near Snoqualmie Casino week of Sept. 13

From Sept. 13 – 17,  King County Road Services Division will conduct a weeklong road resurfacing and repair project on SE North Bend Way between I-90 and the roundabout near the Snoqualmie Casino. The nighttime work will occur from 7PM to 5AM and will require lane closures. Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone. Drivers should expect delays. The work is weather dependent and subject to schedule changes.

Congrats to our WWTP Team:  4th Consecutive Year for Outstanding Performance Award

In late July, the Washington State Department of Ecology (DOE) announced for the 4th consecutive year the City of North Bend’s Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) was honored with the Wastewater Treatment Plant Outstanding Performance Award.  Of approximately 300 wastewater treatment plants statewide, North Bend’s plant was one of 125 that achieved full compliance with its National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit in 2020.

Reinig Road Revetment Repair Project Lane Closure Extended, One Lane Reopens by Sept. 20

King County’s Reinig Road Revetment Repair Project that began in mid-June, requiring a summer closure of Reinig Road between SE 81st Street and 428th Ave SE, will need some extra time before one lane can reopen. It was expected that the westbound lane  in the project area would reopen by Monday, September 6, 2021, but that lane reopening is now scheduled to occur by September 20th. A marked detour remains in place.

Statewide Indoor Mask Mandate, New Outdoor Order,  North Bend Covid-19 Activity & Vaccination Update

Due to the surge in Covid-19 cases caused by the more transmissible Delta variant, Governor Inslee re-instated a statewide indoor mask mandate in public settings on Monday, August 23rd.  Masking at outdoor events with more than 500 people will also be required in King County beginning on Sept. 7th. Covid-19 activity in the City of North Bend has accelerated in  the past few weeks. Over the past 14 days, 32 new cases have been reported. The City hasn’t seen case levels this high since January.  Vaccination rates for North Bend zip code 98045 continue to increase. Currently 75% of those 12+ are fully vaccinated and 80.8% have had at least one shot. Vaccines are readily available at local pharmacies and the Snoqualmie Valley Hospital. King County Eviction Prevention and Rental Assistance Program

King County has a  Prevention and Rental Assistance Program (EPRAP) that helps people experiencing financial hardship due to COVID-19 who are at risk of housing instability or homelessness. The program is funded by $145 million from the Federal Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA), and will help King County residents by paying past, current, and future rent and targeting resources to people in need. Puget Sound Energy ‘COVID Bill Assistance Program’ 

Puget Sound Energy (PSE) has a COVID Bill Assistance Program, designed to help qualified customers facing financial struggle pay their utility bills. The program offers: up to $2,500 in additional utility bill payment assistance; up to $2,500 to forgive past balances for customers who received energy assistance in the past; extended payment plans up to 18 months; the option to change your energy bill’s due date to help with monthly budgeting.
